This is a wonderful place. If you enjoy small bars with a diverse crowd you'll love this place. The bartender went well beyond others to make me feel at home. I had a blast and will remember my time here. GREAT PLACE! 12/1/22 - I just visited the Sand Bar today. Wow this is such a wonderful place. Great people working the bar, great clientele. The Sandbar is one of those places that will always be iconic in Lawrence. Yes, every bar can be a lot of fun.. HOWEVER, Sandbar is an experience. It is a party every night. They have fantastic drinks, with fun toys, and lights. The music is loud! All kinds of tunes to get you moving and singing. Extremely colorful, with pictures all over the walls. Years and years of memories. The people are a joy. A destination stop!

We were in Lawrence dropping off our kid at KU and decided to check this place out. This is now one of our favorite bars of all time. Joe was slinging some excellent drinks and interacted with everyone at the bar. If I lived in Lawrence, this would be my neighborhood bar.

Stopped by Massassachusetts Street for food and drinks. We started off at Sand Bar and then got a Shark Attack. They have some sort of Red Shot that goes into the Shark and then you pour it into the blue limeade. Cool gimmick for sure. Met some cool people and the bartender was cool too.

Stephanie Swan was an awesome bartender. She made my day! Love the beads! Great prices $5 for a Rum runner. Come on Sundays!!! Great times! On Wednesdays you can dance to the beats with Charlie! She likes to dance! Love the shark attack experience. Go Chiefs!!

What a freaking hoot!! Lolol I had heard about this place! I was at Buskers Day, stopped in here We sat outside watching it all, having our Shark Drinks and!! Free popcorn 100% we will be back and bring friends

Great vibe. Great bartenders. Each drink comes with some sort of toy or fun thing. Beads, floating mini rubber ducks, sunglasses, & on... Late night crowd is the college crowd.

A little disappointed, rude door guy. I really wish I could write a proper review, I'm sure it's great inside. Immediately rejected by the door guy for not knowing the address on my ID even after expressing my circumstance for frequent address changes. It's understandable to cast judgment on ID's for someone who is perceivably younger, But they could be a little more respectful without embarrassing customers by making unnecessary snarky comments implying deliberate misuse of a fake ID
